Patients have the right to receive full information about their diagnosis, risks of treatment, and access to all medical records and reports within 24–72 hours of request.
02. Right to Transparent Pricing
Hospitals are required to provide pre-treatment cost estimates. They must display the rates of all their services and procedures in a prominent place.
03. Right to Informed Consent
Before any surgery, invasive procedure, or research project, doctors must explain the procedure, potential benefits, and risks to the patient or their family in a language they understand.
Blank consent forms are illegal. You should only sign after seeing the specific details of the surgery filled in.
04. Right to Second Opinion
Patients have the full right to seek a second opinion from a doctor of their choice, and the primary doctor must cooperate by providing necessary records.
05. Right to Discharge
A hospital cannot detain a patient against their will due to a dispute over payment. While they can pursue legal action for the debt, the patient has a right to leave.
